I just wanted to start this blog as a recording of what is going on in my life as of 2011. For most of you reading this, you already know the following answers. My name is Melisa and I am 26 years old. I currently am working full-time and I am very active in the Jaycees. I know this information is vague, but, it'll give you an idea of who I am.
The reason I started this blog (I have been a very big "blogger" in the past) is to record what is happening in my life as of right now. You see, I feel inspired and passionate about what I will be revealing in a little bit, but I will first tell you a little about my background story...
I have always been active throughout my younger years in High School. Playing Volleyball was the best, even though I was not very good at it. I continued with Volleyball for 4 years in High School and then I tried Track & Field for 1 year while I was a Junior. So, for the most part, I got my exercise and my well-balanced, home-cooked meals everyday.
After I went off to college, I began making my own choices on what I wanted to eat and when I wanted to eat it. Can we say, "ice cream social" in the dorm elevator at 2:00 a.m.? Yes, sneaky, smart? Probably not. Throughout college, I played on inter-mural volleyball teams, which gave me a workout once and a while. I was never really the kind of girl to "go for a run" or "go to the gym". Possibly intimidation? Or just lack of motivation...
Anyways, if you're following this, you can probably tell that I was not being as active as I once was. With not being active, and not being able to say "NO" to fast foods, it was all catching up to me. Do you know the saying "Freshman 15"? If you don't, it's the "general" idea of what happens to students that enroll in college and after their first year, they have gained about 15 lbs. Well, to tell you the truth, I really did not care about my weight. I felt fine with who I was and that was that.
Eventually, I did step on the scale at home once and a while and look at the number and be like, yeah right, that's not right; step off the scale and be on my way...
I never really started noticing myself as a person who was unhealthy. Like I said, I was happy with who I was and that was all that mattered.
Fast forward to a year ago: After unhealthy relationships with food, not being able to feel full after I was done eating, not being motivated to go to the gym...(talk about an easy couple $100 dollars from unused gym memberships) and having the most crazy, addiction to candy, I said enough was enough.
One of the true transformations I have recently made in my life was discovering "Shake 'N Shed". For those of you who don't know about it, you can Google it :) This has been one of the most positive things I have done for my life in such a long time.
Through Shake 'N Shed, I have meet some AMAZING people and I have been an inspiration to others. (I could go into details, but I guess this is not what I want my blog to be about!)
Fast forward again to the present day, I met Becky at Shake 'N Shed and she introduced me to AdvoCare a couple of weeks ago. I had met her back in September/October of 2010 and she was just becoming an instructor at Shake 'N Shed. I then saw her again for the first time, in a LONG time at the beginning of March, and let me tell you, she looked AWESOME. She had really slimmed down and had lots of energy (even though she had a ton before :)) But, I seriously couldn't help myself from asking her how she did it.
AdvoCare. Advo-What? Was my response... I have never heard of that before. She then began talking to me about the products and what they have done to transform her life. Wait-a-minute...You said you've only been on the products for a little over 2 months and you had such an unbelievable result?! What the heck!? How.is.that.even.possible.?
Becky and I talked and talked about AdvoCare. She told me what she had gone through and what she is working on for a goal. Yikes, she surpassed my goal of slimming down in the AdvoCare 24-Day Challenge.
Was I hooked? Yes. What I a skeptic. HECK Yes.
Becky has been sending me links/attachments of the different AdvoCare products. I was still skeptical. This is UNREAL how someone can transform their body. Becky then gave me the name of her Advisor Kim.
Kim and I met last night. Wow, she is super nice and very, very easy to talk to. Her and I chatted for a bit and then she gave me a "Spark" to try out. I was thinking, eh, chalky tasking, gross stuff, but in turn, really told my sweet-tooth, bye bye.
Throughout the time Kim and I were talking, I still was not able to wrap my head around the possibilities with AdvoCare. It almost seems like these products are too good to be true. All, I wanted to do was take the 24-day challenge and hopefully get results.
Ah! This is nerve racking, because I have done my research and I have done my talking until I was blue in the face. I want to live a better lifestyle. I honestly cannot do it by myself. It has been tried. I like food and candy way too much!
After meeting with Kim, I had a sense of excitement. My boyfriend had stopped over and heard the tail-end of us chatting. I was all pumped and he was the skeptic this time.
I told Kim that I will let her know what I want to do with AdvoCare in the next couple of days! YES! YIKES! YIPPEE! (sorry)
I am just going to do a little food diary to show my progress:
Last Night 4/1/11 -
1 1/2 Batter fried Fish
1/2 order of Au Gratin Potatoes
1/2 a LARGE bag of buttered popcorn
1/2 a LARGE Sprite
This morning 4/2/11
(Leftovers at 8:30 a.m.)
1/2 Batter fried fish
1/2 Order of Au Gratin Potatoes
Juice
(Now I'm HUNGRY!!)
I must go find something to eat!
Here's to the journey to a better life & lifestyle!
MLV
Since starting, I now have beer & other beverages going stale in the fridge, soda is going flat... I've thrown out stale double stuft Oreos, tossed gummy worms (or gave them to hubby to eat & he musta tossed them) & the list just goes on & on. It's like the desire is totally gone. I'm going to go thru the pantry again soon & see if there was anything I might have missed to go donate to Curves for the food pantries or something.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the props. :) I was a total skeptic about the products Amanda tried & then retried to tell me about them months & months later. I originally had been turned off by the $$ amount. Well with the $$ I've saved on groceries, booze & more I've not noticed a budget difference other than WAY better!
Hubby was WAY skeptical too now he's like.. I'm almost out of hist or that & REALLY don't want to run out of them. He really likes the fruit & fiber bars & probiotic's & now is taking seasonal support for seasonal asthma & allergies..LOL They have products for people other than those of us trying to lose a few lbs. too! I can't WAIT to go onto the energy, sports performance lines more or try muscle mass & get ripped like Beto! FYI you'll find that with Zumba you've got ripped abs under there just waiting & screaming to pop out!
